Auditor Resources

All audit tools used in PIR are approved by Alberta Jobs, Economy and Trade - Partnerships. The questions must meet Partnerships standards with respect to intent, question content, balance between all elements, and balance of the three (3) different verification techniques (documentation, interview, and observation). The AMHSA Municipal Health and Safety Audit Tool has been approved by Partnerships and any changes made to it must also be approved.

AMHSA, as the Certifying Partner for the municipal sector, requires that any municipality participating in PIR must conduct its audits using the AMHSA Municipal Health and Safety Audit workbook or AuditSoft tool. Auditors must be certified by AMHSA.

  • Make sure you submit an audit registration form and begin with a blank audit tool for each audit.
  • We recommend backing up your work regularly.
  • AMHSA’s Audit Workbook and AuditSoft tools are both designed for use with Windows based PCs. Features may not be compatible with other platforms.

2023 Updates

In the Audit Tool Changes 2023 (revised Feb. 2, 2024) document, we’ve highlighted changes made in the Audit Tool worksheet. Please review with other auditors and your employer to ensure auditors are familiar with the changes and the occupational health and safety management system is kept up-to-date and will meet the revised audit’s requirements. The 2023 Sampling Update document shows changes made to simplify the process for auditors.
