About AMHSA

VISION: To be the recognized leader of municipal safety excellence and an innovative provider of education programs.

MISSION: Promoting quality health and safety management systems by delivering excellent customer focused safety education and consultation services.

The Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association (AMHSA) is an educational not-for-profit organization that promotes the knowledge of health, safety, and environment in the workplace. Our mission is to guide municipal employers and workers in implementing effective HSE management systems, prevention campaigns, and to support the effective transfer or knowledge to employees through classroom, virtual instructor led, and self-paced learning. AMHSA was established in 1990, at the request of the Alberta Municipalities (previously AUMA) and Rural Municipalities of Alberta (previously AAMD&C).

Who are our members? Every town, village, municipal district, county, city, and specialized municipality in Alberta is a member of the association. Our funding comes primarily from a municipal levy collected by the Workers Compensation Board - Alberta.

With offices in Calgary and Sherwood Park, Alberta, AMHSA’s mandate is to provide all Alberta municipalities and small businesses with cost‑effective OHS education and customer‑focused training that help keep workers and communities safe.
