OHS Code Review
Have Your Say on OHS Changes Proposed by the Government of Alberta
SURVEYS ARE OPEN
The Government of Alberta recently announced an open public consultation for proposed changes to the OHS Code. This consultation is focused on the following parts of the OHS Code:
- Part 40 (Utility Workers - Electrical)
- Approach to referencing technical standards
- Some other miscellaneous challenges
- Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs)
- Part 36 (Mining)
These surveys are intended to assist with achieving OHS Code Review outcomes: focusing on health and safety outcomes rather than prescriptive requirements, updating technical provisions to reflect current best practices for OHS, aligning the OHS Code with other provinces, where applicable, and resolving inconsistencies or legal errors while simplifying requirements and duplication to improve clarity.
Your voice matters
As your municipal industry representative, AMHSA is able to collect and collate survey responses on your behalf. This allows us to submit collated member feedback, and to use the information provided to better understand municipal needs and concerns. All responses are aggregated before submission to the Government of Alberta.
