PHS 104: Mental Health

Date: Wednesday Mar 24, 2021
Time: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: Online

This one-day program provides a foundation for understanding the difference between mental health and mental illness (including addictive disorders) and the link to stress and resiliency.

To positively impact mental health in the workplace requires more than having reactive programs in place that are triggered when an employee is experiencing a mental health challenge. Although access to supports such as psychologists and EFAP can be helpful, it is not enough. The purpose of this course is to provide facilitators with the knowledge to evaluate how the organization can support employee’s mental health through both prevention and programs designed to support mental health in times of need.

PHS 104 is approved for 10 CPD hours through CPHR-Alberta.

Certificate Program

Building on the successful delivery of the two-day Psychological Health and Safety Facilitator Certification program that was offered this past June, Alberta Health and Safety Association (AMHSA) and its strategic partner, Howatt HR, will be releasing five additional course offerings starting on November 23. These five new courses will enable participants to work towards a Psychological Health and Safety Facilitator’s Certificate.

AMHSA is also offering the opportunity for participants to register for selected individual courses that will result in a certificate of training upon completion for each course taken.

The goal of this program is to support organizations in developing practical workplace mental health strategies and the mental health competencies of their operational leaders. Upon completion of all courses, participants will be certified as a Psychological Health and Safety Facilitator. All courses may be completed within 24 months.
