Auditors are certified through AMHSA to conduct health and safety management system audits within the municipal sector. In order to maintain the high standard of auditing that AMHSA expects, auditors must:

  • Perform at least two audits every three years (audits must meet a minimum audit quality)
  • Attend Health & Safety Audit Refresher every three years

The course includes classroom / live webinar instruction, general discussion about issues that auditors are facing, and hands-on time spent working with the new Excel audit workbook. Topics include:

  • Information on changes and updates to the Partnerships in Injury Reduction program
  • A chance to explore the new audit workbook (mandatory as of January 1, 2019)
  • An overview of quality assurance processes, expectations, and tips on how to avoid revisions
  • A review of auditing theory
  • A closer look at audit options such as action plans and additional elements

  • Must currently be a certified AMHSA auditor.

  • Audit Refresher is mandatory training once within the 3-year auditor certification period, however AMHSA recommends attending this course on an annual basis.
  • Participants must bring a laptop to class that runs an updated and current version of MS Excel
  • Auditor certification expires 3 years from date of issue. In order to maintain certification, auditors must complete the following prior to their certification expiry:
