Ground Disturbance, Trenching and Excavation

Learn about the hazards associated with ground disturbance, trenching and excavation. Participants will learn to identify hazards, avoid unintentional contact with buried facilities, how to utilize the Alberta One-Call program, and rules to be followed when working near pipelines. This course will review legislative responsibilities, locate requests, marking of buried facilities, soil stability, sloping, shoring, trench boxes and other safety equipment. Course includes classroom instruction, group discussion, videos and an exam.  Recommended for workers, supervisors and managers involved in trenching operations.

NOTE: This course is theoretical in nature and does not involve actual entry to a trench.

Duration: 1 day

CEU points: 0.6

BCRSP previously awarded 0.5 points for this course. The current class contains 6 technical hours and may be eligible for CM points.
