AMHSA is looking for an experienced part-time instructor to teach our new, upcoming Trenchless Underground Construction Awareness course.

The perfect candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • A proven track record of effective facilitation of complex technical information with adult learners.
  • Specific experience instructing tunneling or underground construction courses.
  • Experience with municipal underground construction projects – this would be considered an asset.
  • Experience instructing general construction, ground disturbance, or trenching courses – this would also be considered an asset.

Learning and Design Specialist

AMHSA is growing! The changing digital environment within the municipal sector requires increased focus on course development, instructional design, adult learning, and cross-cultural communication to support training and knowledge/skills transfer to our members. The following new fixed term (1-year) full-time position has been created:

JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and will possess superior communication and project coordination skills. This position works collaboratively as part of a broader team that includes Design Specialists, and internal/external Learning Management System (LMS) Specialists, Project Managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME).

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Learning and Management Systems, the L&D Specialist will:

·       Manage the quality assurance program for existing courses

·       Review and update existing course content and videos as required

·       Assist in the production of instructor-led and online training, including self-paced e-learning, virtual webinars, video-based micro-learning, software demo, and job aids while adhering to project timelines and learning objectives

·       Coordinate, liaise, and collaborate with internal and external SME to extract and understand technical content, for content review and feedback

·       Produce classroom course materials, storyboards, write/edit scripts, audio recordings, and coordinate technical rehearsals with presenters/instructors for webinars, training presentations and videos

·       Respond to a broad range of internal technical and operations procedures-related training requests and inquiries

·       Project management of work product for multiple customers

·       Stay current with industry trends and best practices

JOB TYPE / CATEGORY

Full-time fixed term (1-year) position, with potential for extension. Position to start as soon as possible, 10% travel may be required, AMHSA offers remote work and/or flexible hours with a 35-hour work week. 

LOCATION:

NW Calgary, Sherwood Park, or remotely (Alberta)

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Minimum 3-years of successful experience in training content development, technical writing & communications, or project management/coordination or related experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, instructional design preferred; Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

·       Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP)™ or Certified Training Practitioner™ or similar qualification, is desirable.

·       A proven ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities and work under the pressure of production deadlines/timelines

·       Demonstrated ability to transform technical content in to visually engaging and audience focused presentations

·       Strong interpersonal and meeting facilitation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience

·       Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with technical SMEs and internal team members

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:

·       Experience designing learning experiences and facilitating learning

·       Proficient in graphic design platforms (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)

·       Core competencies in video editing and e-Learning / SCORM compliant Learning Management System platforms (iSpring, Articulate: Storyline/Rise, Handbrake, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.)

·       Considered desirable is direct experience with BIS Training LMS

JOB SUMMARY:

This role has significant impact on AMHSA’s brand and reputation, and performs a variety of specialized and administrative functions to increase AMHSA’s visibility through the development and distribution of information and materials. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and will possess superior communication and project coordination skills. This position works collaboratively as part of a broader team that includes Departmental Leaders, peer MARCOM Coordinator, and internal/external Subject Matter Experts (SME).

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Learning and Management Systems, the MARCOM Coordinator will:

·       Implement integrated marketing campaigns

·       Produce marketing and communications materials

·       Manage AMHSA brand and coordinate event planning

·       Respond to a broad range of internal technical and operations procedures-related training requests and inquiries

·       Project management of work product for multiple customers

·       Stay current with industry trends and best practices

·       Planning and implementing MARCOM campaigns across a variety of operational and/or corporate communication channels (Search Engines, Websites, Social Media, etc.)

·       Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences in multiple mediums (verbal, written, visual)

·       Track record of supporting management teams in achieving strategic initiatives

·       Effective in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with technical SMEs and internal team members

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:
